Perguntaram-me, outro dia, quais seriam meus cantores de jazz favoritos…

Hope you enjoy it!
Chet, the night and the music
I know that you hope to read about a brand new album. But the CD that I have enjoyed lately is “As time goes by” of the legendary jazz (he was also considered a sex symbol in his youth) musician Chet Baker. The CD was recorded in 1986, in Holland by Timeless Records (which qualifies it), Chet plays the trumpet and does the vocal; Harold Danks plays the piano; John Burr is responsible for the bass and Ben Riley commands the drums.
The second track gives the name to the album, and also summarises the content of the songs. “As time goes by” became known worldwide as the main song of “Casablanca”. And the voice harsh at the same time sweet and gentle as it’s almost a whisper when he sang the chorus “You must remember this/A kiss is just a kiss/A sigh is just a sigh/The fundamental things apply/As time goes by”. The first track “You and the night and the music” is also terrific, it’s the whole blend: great musicians connected with each other, more than distinctive, unique rendition … It has the ability of calming you down after a stressful day, believe it!
And even the ones who think this is a too romantic CD, it’s got the elegance of breeze ballads, such as “Summer Breeze” and also catchy chorus, in the third track “My melancholy baby”. If you have never heard of Chet Baker, go now to the closest record shop and buy it, it will be, certainly the beginning of a love story.
Se você ficou interessado (a), é só procurar chet baker no youtube e dar uma olhada no que os caras já colocaram lá. Até onde minha paciência aguentou, não tinha nenhum do you and the night and the music, ou do As time goes by, mas há muitas músicas boas lá, interpretadas por ele, como a My melancholy baby, que eu citei no texto, Time after time, entre outras.
You And The Night And The Music
You and the night and the music
Fill me flaming desire
Setting my being completely on fire
You and the night and the music
Thrill me but will we be one
After the night and the music are done
Until the pale light of dawn and in daylight
Hearts will be throbbing guitars
Morning will come without warning and take away the stars
If we must live for the moment
Love Until the moment is through
After the night and the music die
Will I have you?
Until the pale light of dawn and in daylight
Hearts will be throbbing guitars
Morning will come without warning and take away the stars
If we must live for the moment
Love Until the moment is through
After the night and the music die
Will I have you?
